Opal have been mined for thousands of years but since early last century over 95% of the world’s precious Opal have been mined in the dry and remote outback deserts of Australia.

There are three types of Opals mined here and they come from three distinct areas of the outback; the famous Black Opals from Lightening Ridge in New South Wales, the brilliant Boulder Opals from the Quilpie district in Queensland and the stunning White Opals from Coober Pedy in South Australia.
